- A broken or chipped tooth
- Tooth gets knocked out
- Something is stuck between your teeth
- Broken crown or other dental work
- Severe toothache
- Injury/Bleeding in your mouth
What to do in a Dental Emergency
If you or someone you love experiences a dental emergency, we recommend that you give Svans Dentistry a call immediately. Once you’ve described the situation to us, we can then counsel you over the phone and answer your questions. If necessary, we will find a way to get you into our office for immediate treatment. This is very important because treating the emergency in a timely manner can save you pain and cost in the future.
Never try to handle the problem yourself, by attempting to repair your dental work at home, for example. Coming into the dentist means you will be treated in a sterile environment by a professional. It is a much safer option.
If you are experiencing a painful toothache, on the other hand, there are measures you can take to lessen the pain while waiting to see the dentist. You can use an over-the-counter pain pill and/or a cold compress. If your tooth is broken or knocked out, save the pieces and bring them with you when you come to see us.
Most importantly, give us a call as soon as you experience your emergency. We can talk you through the situation and find a way to get you seen as soon as possible.
